Metai

Synopsis

Dance film|Lithuania

‘METAI’ (eng. ‘seasons’ or ‘year’) is a short experimental film intended to give meaning to Lithuanian folk art, its performance, national costumes, Lithuanian folk instruments and to present works common to the stage in a non-traditional concert space – in nature, in different seasons, thus introducing the viewer to the seasonality and contrasts of Lithuanian nature.

Although the film is about Lithuanian culture and art, at the same time, through the light prism of a documentary, it is also told about the youth, Vilnius University students, alumni, what culture means to them and what the ensemble is. The protagonists of the film, students and members of the ensemble, not only study during the academic year, but also devote time to the cultivation of culture, creating meaningful bonds of friendship.

‘METAI’ stands out for its bright four parts of the film, each dedicated to different time of the year, the respective works, interspersed with short excerpts from the life of the ensemble – where, what and why
